Semarang, Indonesia – June 4, 2024 – The Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Diponegoro proudly announces the successful commencement of the EBICCS Summer Course 2024. EBICCS, stands for Economics and Business International Camp and Courses for Sustainability. This year, EBICCS presented with a theme centered on “Complexity Systems and Its Extension from Economics and Business Perspective,” this 12-day event, spanning from May 13th to May 31st, promises an enriching experience for participants, delving deep into the intricate dynamics of complexity systems in the realms of economics and business.

EBICCS Summer Course 2024 kicked off with an official opening ceremony graced by the esteemed Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Diponegoro, Prof. Faisal, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D. In his address, the Dean emphasized the significance of understanding complexity systems in today’s rapidly evolving economic and business landscapes. He expressed his enthusiasm for the collaborative learning and international engagement that this summer course fosters.

Following the Dean’s address, the Chief Organizing Committee of EBICCS 2024, Dr. Jaka Aminata, S.E., M.A. delivered the opening remarks, setting the stage for an intensive and insightful series of sessions. The Chief Organizing Committee highlighted the global importance of this event, underscoring its role in advancing knowledge and fostering international cooperation among scholars and practitioners.

Over the course of 12 days, participants have engaged in 17 comprehensive sessions, each designed to provide deep insights and practical knowledge about complexity systems. Esteemed speakers from around the world, including renowned academics, industry experts, and thought leaders, will lead these sessions. Topics will range from theoretical foundations of complexity systems to their practical applications in various economic, business, and sustainability contexts.

The EBICCS Summer Course 2024 aims to serve as a tool to understand complexity theory and its application in economics and business, by emphasizing an interdisciplinary approach, as well as understanding key concepts such as emergence and self-organization in complex systems to explore the unpredictable nature and importance of emergence in understanding new phenomena in various domains. Diverse perspectives from lecturers, academics, and professionals will contribute to the program, fostering a comprehensive and extensive learning experience for students.

Participants will have the opportunity to interact with distinguished speakers, including Prof. Zulnaidi Yacoob, Charles Autheman, Prof. Morgane Cheve, Abdul Hakim, Dr. Christina Stringer, Dr. Hernando Gil Tovar, Prof. Thomas Apolte, Edwin Sanusi, Nor Halisza Md Saad, Dr. Nicholas Morris, and Dr. Karishma Banga. Some of the lecturer from Universitas Diponegoro, Dr. Kardison Lumban Batu and Dr. Alfa Farah also participated as the speaker for EBICCS 2024.
